My work of 'Plein Air' oil paintings are aimed at capturing the beauty, fragility, rawness and essence of the Australian landscape. Working with strong vibrant colours that reflect the glaring Australian light and using energetically layered brush marks, my aim is to take viewers on my journey and share my experiences of this great land. 

 

As a 'Plein Air' painter you are constantly battling the ever changing weather conditions with sunny days turning quickly into storms and rain. Nature dictates the approach to each work and I merely work within it's confines to capture the moment. 

 

All works are completed on site in the natural elements and there are no enhancements or touch ups done in the studio. This forces the works to have a visual feeling of spontaneity and freshness, which I believe can only be achieved from painting outdoors.
